Air superiority
'Air Superiority' is an official concept artwork for Battlefield 1, the video game created by EA DICE. The artist is DICE Senior Concept Artist Robert Sammelin. This limited edition Certified Art Gicleeâ„¢ print is part of the official Battlefield 1 fine art collection by Cook & Becker and EA DICE.
The Great War drove warfare to new heights. Sometimes quite literally: airplanes for the first time entered the war theater. At first, the role of the canvas-over-wood biplanes and triplanes was air reconnaissance, with pilots occasionally emptying revolvers at their counterparts or throwing metal darts into trenches. Later, bomber and fighter planes emerged - the start of aerial warfare as we know it. Needless to say, artists quickly picked up on the romantic heroism of the aerial 'dogfight', developing an artistic tradition in aviation art that lasts until today. 'Air Superiority', a Battlefield 1 concept art piece by EA DICE Senior Concept Artist Robert Sammelin, easily fits that tradition, showing dynamic air combat against a glorious sky.
